The Internal Revenue Service is all set to send payouts for the Additional Child Tax Credit, up to $1,700, to eligible individuals. If you are interested in getting this payment, read this article thoroughly to check all details.
$1700 ACTC Coming in October 2025
The ACTC is a tax credit; each eligible individual can get the maximum amount of their tax liability, which is zero after claiming the other tax credits. The IRS sends this payment through the payment method opted in 2024 returns.
Note that the regular deadline to claim the ACTC was April 15, 2025, and the extended deadline is October 15 of the same year. The IRS is sending out payment for eligible individuals within three weeks after filing.
Who will get this payment in October 2025?
In October 2025, the ACTC refund is going to be received by those who have filed their 2024 returns between mid-September 2025 and the first quarter of October 2025 and don’t have any tax liability after claiming other tax credits.
As the payment is received within three weeks, if you have filed 2024 returns on October 6, 2025, there is high speculation that your direct deposit will be received by the last week. Paper checks may take a little more time.
If you haven’t yet filed your returns for tax year 2024, you can do so by October 15, 2025. Note that once the IRS sends out payment, direct deposits are received within 72 hours, and paper checks take up to 1 week to arrive.
What are the requirements to claim ACTC?
The additional child tax credit (ACTC) is the refundable portion of the CTC. To claim it on your 2024 returns, you are required to meet the eligibility requirements:

Additionally, there are additional requirements for tax filers to claim ACTC:
- You must have more than $2,500 in earned income, wages, or self-employment.
- You must be a United States citizen or resident for tax purposes, and
- Your income shouldn’t be above $200,000 as Single, Head of Household, Qualifying Widow(er), or Married Filing Separately; the maximum cap for Married Filing Jointly is $400,000.
