The AISH and IS are financial assistance programmes by the Government of Alberta. The first one is received every month to help individuals with severe disabilities, and the second one is received by those who are struggling to meet basic needs because of low income, unemployment, or any other reason.
They have announced the 2026 payment dates for the Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped and Income Support for both direct deposit and paper cheque. If you are among the individuals who get any of this benefit or recently have applied to get it, you may check the schedule from below.
What’s the 2026 Payment Schedule?
The month-wise payment dates for the AISH and IS are made public. The payout takes place on the same date for both benefits. The direct deposit is received six business days before the 1st of the month, and the paper cheque is mailed six business days earlier.

Once the direct deposit is released, it is received within a few hours, and paper cheques take 3 to 7 days to arrive. So after the payment release, wait for appropriate timing to receive it without any delay.
What to do to get the payment on time?
If you get an AISH or IS programme payment through the direct deposit, you needn’t take any step. Your payout will be received smoothly every month, but ensure that your bank account is active and keep maintaining it.
If you receive your payment via paper cheque, you should switch to direct deposit. Doing so will help you in getting the faster payment. In case of getting the payment via paper cheque, one has to wait for even a week; many times it results in disturbing the mental peace.
If you switch to direct deposit, you won’t have to check your mailbox daily after the release of the payment; it will be received directly in your bank account smoothly, and you can spend it as per your requirement.
How to set up a direct deposit for the AISH or IS program?
Setting up a direct deposit to receive the AISH and IS programme payment is quite easy; the procedure for the same is available below.

- Log in with the Alberta.ca account to access the dashboard.
- Select your Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped or Income Support file.
- Click on the Payment Information, and then tap on Setup Direct Deposit.
- Provide the bank number, transit number, and account number and click on the Confirm button.
What if the AISH or IS payment isn’t received on time?
After the release of direct deposit and paper cheque, the AISH and IS payment is received within due time. If there is any technical error, the direct deposit may be delayed by 72 hours, and due to a workload, the paper cheque may be delayed by 10 to 14 days.
If you don’t receive your money even after waiting for the required time, it is good for you to get in touch with the officials. To contact them, you need to visit the nearest office, dial a call, or message or text them. On contacting, you will know the reason behind it.
If there is any appeal from the other side, they will fix it as soon as possible, and the payment will be received. And if they have any doubt about your eligibility, you may be asked to show the required documents.
