The South African Social Security Agency supports the unemployed individuals or vulnerable groups living in South Africa through the Social Relief of Distress monthly payment. The grant offers temporary support for those struggling with rising living costs due to reduced or no income.

This grant was initiated during COVID-19, and till now, eligible people have been receiving this support. The current payout amount for the SRD payment is R370, which was raised earlier from R350 payout.

The agency typically disburses SRD grants to approved applicants’ accounts in the last week of each month and announces payment dates each month. The SRD payment period for September 2025 was announced four days ago: 25 to 29 September 2025.

With the SASSA SRD payment period out for September 2025, if you are wondering when you will receive your payment, you can check the SRD payment or claim status in the following steps:

• Visit the SASSA SRD official website: www.srd.sassa.gov.za 
• Next, go to the Status check option on the dashboard.
• Now, enter your mobile number and South Africa’s 13-digit Identity number. 
• Once you submit your mobile number and ID number, your SRD grant status will appear on your screen, with SRD application status, payment date, and banking details confirmation. 

What can delay your R370 SRD grant 2025?

The SRD payment may be delayed for some recipients even after the SRD application is approved due to the following reasons:

• SASSA has started the verification drive, where recipients have to verify and confirm their bank details. So, if your bank details are not verified or confirmed yet, your payment might get delayed.

• There is some miscommunication between the bank and the agency, or your bank has returned your money to the agency.

If your bank details are not verified, and you wish to confirm them, you can do that in the following steps:

• Visit the SRD website at www.srd.sassa.gov.za or go to the self-service website at  www.srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/ekyc/referredstatus. 
• Go to the SRD application section and check your bank details.
• Now, click on editing the banking details and enter your bank details. 
• Next, follow the prompts to verify your identity on the portal.

Remember, once you confirm and verify your banking details to the agency, your payment will be paid in the next payment cycle, so if your banking details remain unverified for September 2025, and you confirm it now, you will receive your payout in the October 2025 payment cycle.
