Here, we have shared everything you need to know about the October 2025 OTB Payment. Read this article thoroughly to check when the payment will be sent, if you are eligible to get this payment, and much more.
October 2025 OTB Payment
The Ontario Trillium Benefit is a refundable tax credit, which is given by the Canada Revenue Agency to low-to-moderate-income Ontario residents. The OTB is a tax-free payment, which includes the following credits:
- Ontario Energy & Property Tax Credit
- Northern Ontario Energy Credit
- Ontario Sales Tax Credit
Beneficiaries of this benefit receive their payments in installments; for the payment year July 2025 to June 2026, the fourth payment is set to be received in October 2025 through the chosen payment gateway.
What’s the payment date?
The payment for the OTB October 2025 will be sent out by the Canada Revenue Agency on October 10, 2025. If you get the payment via direct deposit, it will be received in your bank within 72 hours or even earlier.
The payment for the Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) beneficiaries who get the payout via check will most probably be within 7 days; for the remote areas, the time for receiving the checks may be more than a week.
Who is eligible for the payment?
To receive the OTB (Ontario Trillium Benefit) October 2025 payment, it is mandatory that you meet the following conditions:
- You must have citizenship of Canada and reside in Ontario;
- You must have filed an Income Tax and Benefit Return for the year 2024 and have completed and enclosed the Form ON-BEN; and
- You must be 18 years old or have or previously had a spouse or common-law partner or a parent who lives or previously lived with a child.
Additionally, you are required to meet the eligibility requirements to get the benefit of the Ontario Energy & Property Tax Credit and the Northern Ontario Energy Credit.
- OEPTC: You must have paid the property or rent tax, accommodation costs for a public long-term care home, or home energy costs on a reserve.
- NOEC: You are eligible for OEPTC and residing in the Northern Ontario district.
Furthermore, the income threshold is applicable to get the above-mentioned tax credits under the OTB.
What’s the payment amount?
The monthly payout amount received by beneficiaries of OTB differs from one another, as per eligibility conditions. For better understanding about the payout amount, please refer to the listed points.
Northern Ontario Energy Credit (NOEC)
- Single: Maximum of $185.
- Family: Maximum of $285.
Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit (OEPTC)
- Ages 18-64: Maximum of $1,283.
- Age 65 or older: Maximum of $1,461.
- On a reserve or in a public long-term care home: Maximum of $285.
- In a designated college/university residence (in 2024): $25.
Ontario Sales Tax Credit (OSTC)
- Individual: Up to $371.
- Additional for spouse/common-law partner: Up to $371.
- Additional for each dependent child (under 19): Up to $371.
Suppose that as an individual (below age 64), you are eligible for all the above maximum credits, so the maximum amount you can get annually is ($185 + $1,283 + $371) = $1,839, so the monthly payment you can get is $153.25.
