SASSA SRD Grant October 2025: Payment Date Announced for R370!

The South African Social Security Agency will release the Social Relief of Distress Grant October 2025 payment for all the beneficiaries. Note that the payout to you will be received through the opted payment gateway. 

The exact payment date for the different beneficiaries differs from one another; you will receive your payment in the last week of October 2025. Note that you will get the payment only if you meet eligibility criteria.

If you get the payment via direct deposit, you will receive it directly in your bank account within 72 hours. If you don’t have a bank account, you will receive it in your post office account—on the same day you can withdraw it.

What’s the payment date?

The South African Social Security Agency has announced the exact date for the SRD grant; the payment for October 2025 will be released between the 25th and 30th of the same month. Note that your payment can be received any time between these two dates.

If your payment is sent out via direct deposit on October 25, 2025, there is a high speculation that you will have received it by the 28th of the month. If the payout takes place on October 30, 2025, you can expect it to be received probably by November 3, 2025. 

Who is eligible to get payment?

You are eligible for the Social Relief of Distress grant from the SASSA if you meet the following requirements.

• You are a South African citizen or permanent resident. 
• You are not receiving any other social assistance grant or pension,
• You are experiencing financial hardship and being unemployed, and 
• Your income or family income is below the minimum level.

What will be the payout amount?

You will receive R370 as a Social Relief of Distress grant for October 2025. It is given to individuals who are in financial difficulty and are not receiving benefits from any other social assistance scheme.

The payment for the SASSA SRD will be sent directly to your bank account or post office account. If you don’t have a bank account, you can also receive it in cash from PayPoint or Pick n Pay. 

What if the payment is delayed?

If your SASSA Social Relief of Distress payment is late, you need not worry. Sometimes it happens because of the bank procedures, technical issues, and holidays.

You can check your payment status via SASSA’s official website, WhatsApp, and SMS. If your payment remains pending, you need to get in touch with SASSA for resolution.

• Enter your South African ID number and registered phone number.
• Click the Check Status button.

Will the payout amount increase?

The South African Social Security Agency has not yet officially announced an increase in the amount of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant. It is currently R370 per month as scheduled for April 2024.

Future increases in payments are likely to depend on the national budget and government economic policies. Small increases are typically made twice a year for other grants, but there have been no changes to the SRD.
