Wondering When Your NZ Jobseeker Payment Is Due? Here’s the Schedule

In NZ, the Jobseeker Support is a financial assistance program. It is received by those individuals who can work and are actively looking for a job, or can’t work right now due to a health condition, injury, or disability, or are working part-time but need support.

This payment is received weekly, i.e., once in each seven days. They send it through the direct deposit, and it is received within a few hours. It is received by applicants who meet the eligibility requirements set by the authorities; the payment rate varies from person to person.

Here, we have discussed everything you need to know about the NZ Jobseeker Benefit. Read this article thoroughly to check when you are going to get your next payment, what the amount of your payout will be, what you are required to do if you don’t get it on time, and more.

When to expect the payment?

It is received weekly without any delay. If you are already getting this benefit, you are going to get payment as per schedule. As they release it on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, your next payout will come on the day on which you received your previous one.

If your previous payment was received on Wednesday, it is certain that you will get the next on the same day. On the payment date, it is most probably received by early morning; sometimes it takes a few hours to be received in the bank account—due to technical issues.

New applicants are required to wait for a full week before getting the first payment, i.e., if your application for this payment is approved on a day other than Monday, you have to wait for a full week (Monday-Sunday), and then your payment will be received on the day you are assigned.

How much will be received?

The payout amount for the NZ Jobseeker benefit varies based on eligibility. The factors that affect the benefit are living situation, income, age, tax code, parent income, and others. The maximum payment rates for this benefit are as follows:

  • Sole Parent: NZ$ 505.80
  • Couple With Children: NZ $649.22
  • Couple Without Children: NZ$ 614.84
  • Single Adult (25+ years): NZ$ 361.32
  • Single Adult (20–24 years): NZ$ 314.72
  • Single (18–19) Living Away From Home: NZ $314.72
  • Single (18–19) Living At Home: NZ $268.13

To get the maximum payout, it is mandatory that your weekly income isn’t above the threshold. It is $160 for a single, a sole parent, and a couple. The sole parent is paying the childcare benefit; his threshold is increased by $20.

If the income is above the threshold, the payout starts to phase out. For singles, sole couples, and couples, the reduction rate varies:

  1. Single (no children): It reduces by 70 cents for every $1 earned.
  2. Sole Parent: Up to $250, it is reduced by 30 cents per $1, and over $250, it is received by 70 cents per $1.
  3. Couple (both on benefit): After $160, it is reduced by 35 cents for every $1.

What if it isn’t received on time?

The NZ Jobseeker payment is received on time if there is no problem with the eligibility of a candidate. If you are a beneficiary of this benefit, and you didn’t get your payment, then you are required to log in to MyMSD.

By logging in to the web portal, you will get to know whether your payment was issued or there are holds, reviews, or document requests, or if it is active or temporarily paused.

Note that your payment may be paused if your ID, bank statement, payslips, or medical certificate isn’t provided. It is paused; it is going to get in touch with WINZ to know what you are required to do to get the benefit.
