What are the new improvements and rules for the SRD system?
With the announcement of the SRD payment boost from R350 to R370, the government has announced the following new rules or improvements to enhance the system and provide better services to the recipients:
- The SRD system serves 17.8 million clients and processes many applications; hence, to keep the system secure, the agency now uses fully encrypted connections.
- SASSA will review and cross-check the beneficiary information of the beneficiary database from the SARS tax records, the Department of Home Affairs residency and citizenship data, Unemployment Insurance Fund contribution, and National Student Financial Aid Scheme data.
- The agency is taking steps to track down the fraudulent activities and fight the corruption to ensure the right use of the grants.
- The government plans to include the mandatory training requirements to sharpen the skills, job workshops, and other programmes to boost the job opportunities for the people and reduce unemployment.
