The federal court has resolved the BCBS subscriber settlement appeals in 2024, which were delaying the payment. The class members who filed the claim before or on 05 November 2021 have been waiting for more than 4 years now.
With the appeal being resolved, we expect the settlement administrator to process the payout this year. However, there is no payment yet; the settlement administrator will update about the payment distribution on the BCBS official settlement website.
Once the administration begins the payment distribution, you can expect the payout from the net settlement of the $2.67 billion in a few weeks. According to reports, the BCBS settlement payout can be released by mid-late 2025.

How much can you expect from the BCBS settlement payout?
From the $2.67 billion settlement fund of the BCBS settlement, the net settlement fund from which valid claimants will receive payout is $1.9 billion. The $1.9 billion fund comes out when the administrator has deducted the administration cost, attorney’s fees, and other expenses.
The class member who has submitted a valid claim on time will receive the payment when the claim form is approved, where the individual payment will depend on the number of valid claims, the premium you paid during the class period, or whether your insurance was self-funded or fully insured.
The settlement agreement states that the net settlement fund will be divided into two categories, where $120 million will be used to compensate self-funded accounts and their workers, and $1.78 billion will be used for the individuals’ compensation. The funds will be distributed separately, so more or less payment in one fund will not affect the other fund.
The administrator has not estimated the payout amount for the individuals; however, based on the reports, you can expect the payment of $333 if you qualify for the settlement. The payout amount may vary for claimants as there are many factors influencing it, so do check your payment.
Apart from the payout, the defendant has also planned to bring important changes to their business strategies that will not affect the market and ensure the competition stays alive in the health insurance market. This will ensure that the defendant will no longer manipulate the market with their non-competition agreement.
What if your payment method information is changed?
The BCBS settlement payout will proceed based on the payment method you have selected – Venmo, PayPal, Check, or Prepaid card. As it’s been more than four years since you filed the claim, if your payment method or address changes, you must update it to the settlement administrator.
