With September 2025 coming to an end, many are wondering about the October 2025 adjustment for the OAS and its benefits, such as the GIS allowance due to the CRA’s quarterly adjustment.

If you are wondering about the payment changes in the GIS Allowance for October 2025, you can check the full details here.

Canada GIS Allowance Hike October 2025

The Canada Revenue Agency adjusts the Old Age Security benefit quarterly based on the Consumer Price Index to ensure the payment aligns with the cost of living, and recipients receive enough payment.

The maximum payments for July to September 2025 are mentioned on the official website, and now recipients are wondering about the October 2025 payments. The CRA has announced the next payment adjustment for the October to December 2025 quarter based on the CPI.

According to the agency, the OAS benefits payment will increase by 0.7% for the quarter October to December 2025. The October 2025 hike is 1.7% higher than the hike last year in the same quarter.

How does CRA calculate the Quarterly Adjustment for GIS Allowance and Other Benefits?

CRA calculates the October to December 2025 quarterly adjustment for the benefit in the following manner, based on the CPI:

  • The CRA adjusts the benefits based on the difference between the CPI of the recent 3-month period (May, June, and July 2025)  and the last 3-month period (February, March, and April 2025).
  • The average for February, March, and April was 163.3, and the average of May, June, and July 2025 was 164.5.
  • The difference between the average of the CPIs is 0.7, which represents the increase in CPI.

Based on the 0.7% increase for October and December 2025, the Canadians who qualify for the OAS and GIS Allowance can expect their GIS allowance to be increased to the following amount:
