Old Age Security October 2025 Payment: When and how much will be received?

The Canada Revenue Agency has announced the October 2025 payment date for the Old Age Security benefit. The payment is going to be received through the direct deposit and paper cheque. Here, we have discussed the payment date, amount, and more.

Note that the Old Age Security benefit has two components, which are OAS Pension and GIS. The first one is standard, and the second is additional payment for the low-income OAS recipients. Your benefit is going to be the same as the previous month’s payout.

If you get the Old Age Security benefit via direct deposit, you will get it in your bank account on the day the CRA will release it. If you receive this payment via paper cheque, you may have to wait for a week or even more to receive it at your residential address.

What is the Old Age Security October 2025 payment date?

The payment date for the October 2025 Old Age Security benefit is disclosed. The Canada Revenue Agency will release the direct deposit and send the paper cheque on October 29, 2025. If you get benefits via direct deposit, you will receive them on the same day.

How much will be received in October 2025?

The OAS benefits have two components, which are Old Age Security (OAS) pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS). As a beneficiary of the OAS pension with an age between 65 and 74, the maximum you can get is $740.09, and if you are above 74, your maximum benefit is $814.10.

If you have lived in Canada for more than 40 years, you are entitled to get the maximum benefit. If you have spent less than 40, you will get a partial amount.

Note that if you are a low-income OAS recipient, you can get it for $665.41 per person if you are a couple. The amount for single and widowed or divorced is $1,105.43. GIS amount decreases as income increases; if your income is higher, you get less GIS.

If you are single with a low income and an OAS recipient, you will get an overall monthly payout of $1,845.52; and if you are married and you and your wife are both low-income OAS recipients, then the monthly maximum payment as a couple you can get will be $2,811.

Who is eligible for the October 2025 payment?

The October 2025 old age security (OAS) benefit will be received by all the individuals who meet the eligibility requirements and already have applied to get it. The eligibility requirements for each component of this benefit are given below.

Old Age Security (OAS) Pension

  • Must be 65 years or older.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or legal resident.
  • Must have lived in Canada for at least 10 years after age 18.
  • No work or tax history needed.

Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)

  • Must already receive OAS.
  • Must have low income, based on your and your spouse’s 2024 income:
    • Single: income below ~$22,440/year
    • Couple: combined income below ~$29,616/year

What if the October 2025 payment is delayed?

If you get old age security (OAS) benefits via direct deposit, you won’t face any delay in getting the payment if everything is okay with your banking details with the Canada Revenue Agency. In case of any error or mistake in your direct deposit, your payment may be delayed.

The paper cheques are often delayed because of workload. As the Canada Post is on strike, your cheque may be delayed until the strike ends. If you don’t want your payment to be delayed, make sure you switch to direct deposit if you get benefits via paper cheque.
