The Canada Revenue Agency has announced the October 2025 payment date for the Old Age Security benefit. The payment is going to be received through the direct deposit and paper cheque. Here, we have discussed the payment date, amount, and more.
Note that the Old Age Security benefit has two components, which are OAS Pension and GIS. The first one is standard, and the second is additional payment for the low-income OAS recipients. Your benefit is going to be the same as the previous month’s payout.
If you get the Old Age Security benefit via direct deposit, you will get it in your bank account on the day the CRA will release it. If you receive this payment via paper cheque, you may have to wait for a week or even more to receive it at your residential address.
What is the Old Age Security October 2025 payment date?
The payment date for the October 2025 Old Age Security benefit is disclosed. The Canada Revenue Agency will release the direct deposit and send the paper cheque on October 29, 2025. If you get benefits via direct deposit, you will receive them on the same day.
If there will be any technical issues with your bank, then it may be delayed by a few hours. If you receive payment via a paper cheque, you have to wait for a week. As the Canada Post strike is ongoing, your payment may be delayed unexpectedly.

What if the October 2025 payment is delayed?
If you get old age security (OAS) benefits via direct deposit, you won’t face any delay in getting the payment if everything is okay with your banking details with the Canada Revenue Agency. In case of any error or mistake in your direct deposit, your payment may be delayed.
The paper cheques are often delayed because of workload. As the Canada Post is on strike, your cheque may be delayed until the strike ends. If you don’t want your payment to be delayed, make sure you switch to direct deposit if you get benefits via paper cheque.
