Pennsylvania residents may get up to $1,000 from the Department of Revenue under the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. Many individuals who are entitled to get it have already received these benefits. Here, we have shared everything you need to know about it.

The PA government is giving rebates to help seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income residents and encourage home and community stability. Many PA residents have already received the benefit of this program by applying online.

If you haven’t yet received this rebate, you can apply through the official website. Note that the due date to apply to get this benefit is December 31, 2025. Ensure that you apply before the due date; otherwise, you won’t get even a single penny as a rebate.

Who can get Pennsylvania’s $1,000 tax rebate?

The rebates up to $1,000 are received by PA residents who apply for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. It is for the older adults and people with disabilities; both homeowners and renters are eligible to get the benefit of this scheme. The payout under this program began on July 1, 2025, for early applications.

As of mid-October 2025, hundreds of thousands of PA residents have already received the rebate. If you apply today, there is high speculation that you will get the payout within a month. If you apply via the myPATH portal, you will get a direct deposit; and via mail, you will receive a paper check, and the processing time will be longer.

Note that you may also be eligible to get the benefit of a supplemental rebate of up to $500; it is only for the residents of Philadelphia, Scranton, and Pittsburgh in case of not exceeding the income limit of $31,010. The amount for applicants varies based on his or her eligibility requirements set by DoR.

Who is eligible to get Pennsylvania’s tax rebate?

To get a rebate under the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program by submitting an application, it is mandatory that you are 65 or older, or a widow or widower of age 50 or older, or an individual with disabilities with at least age 18 as of December 31, 2024. 

Additionally, it is mandatory that you own and occupy a home or rent and occupy a home, apartment, nursing home, boarding house, or similar residence in the year 2024. Furthermore, your annual household income mustn’t be above $46,520. Note that the following income is excluded:

  • Half of Social Security Benefit,
  • Half of Supplemental Security Income,
  • Half of State Supplementary Payments, and 
  • Half of Railroad Retirement Tier 1 Benefit.

Note that if you have received any public assistance in the year 2024, you may not be eligible for a rebate as a renter. 

How much can one get under the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program?

The amount you can get under the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program depends on your annual income. The individuals with lower income are entitled to get a bigger amount, and the benefit phases out gradually with the increased income. In case of exceeding the income threshold, nothing is received.

Note that the standard rebate amount for the individuals with income up to $8,270 is $1,000; for income between $8,271 and $15,510, the benefit of $770 is received; for $15,511 to $18,610, the benefit is $460; and for $18,611 to $46,520, the benefit is only $380.

You can also get additional supplemental rebates in case of being a resident of a certain location. If your income is up to $8,270, you can get an additional $500; for income between $8,271 and $15,510, it is $385; for income between $15,511 and $18,610, it is $230; and for income between $18,611 and $31,010, it is $190.

How to apply for Pennsylvania’s $1,000 tax rebate?

To apply for Pennsylvania’s $1,000 tax rebate, please follow the step-by-step instructions available below.

  • Go to the official website of the Department of Revenue, Pennsylvania, at https://www.pa.gov/.
  • Tap on the option that reads ‘Property Tax/Rent Rebate Application,’ click on it, and go to the next page.
  • Now, you will see an option that reads ‘Apply Online with myPATH.’ Tap on it and go to the application page.
  • Fill in the online application form accurately with details and documents, and then choose a payment method to get the payout.
