What if I don’t get payment on time from the SSA?
The SSA sends SSI and Social Security benefits on schedule through beneficiaries’ chosen payment methods, ensuring no beneficiary faces any problems due to missing benefits. Payment delays are rare, especially when there are technical issues or a heavy workload.
If you receive your SSA benefits through direct deposit, you should know that it takes a few hours for the payment to arrive. It can be delayed by 72 hours if there is a technical issue. If we talk about paperwork, it takes hardly 7 days to receive it. If the workload is heavy, then in this case, this waiting time can be 10 days.
If you haven’t received your direct deposit after 72 hours or your paper check after waiting 10 days, you should contact the Social Security Administration for information. If the problem is on their end, they will resolve the issue, and you will receive your payment.
If the problem is with your eligibility, the Social Security Administration may ask you for the required documents, after which your payment will be released if they find you eligible to receive benefits.
