The Social Security Administration has announced the date for the payment of the Supplemental Security Income. The SSA is all set to release the payment on October 1, 2025, through the opted payment gateway.
If you are among the beneficiaries of SSI, you should know the payment for the individuals who get the payout via direct deposit will get the payment the same day. If you get the payout via check, you have to wait for a week to receive it in the mailbox.
Who will get the payment?
The SSI payment will be received by all beneficiaries who meet the eligibility requirements. Note that the payout is only sent to blind, disabled, and individuals who have turned 65 years old and have very low or no income.
To get the Supplemental Security Income payment, it is mandatory that you do not exceed the resource limit:
- For an individual, it is $2000.
- The maximum cap for the couple is $3,000.
Note that resources include cash, bank accounts, stocks, and some personal property. Note that your house, one car, burial plot, and personal items aren’t included.
How much can I get?
The SSI payment is a maximum of $967 for an individual, but for a couple—the amount exceeds $1,450. To get the maximum payout, you must not have any income; if you earn something, then the amount you get is reduced.
Note that the SSA excludes the first $20 from the countable income. Now let’s say that you have monthly earnings of $500. First, the SSA will deduct $20 from your earnings and then divide it by 2—the figure we get is $240.
After that, this amount is deducted from the maximum benefit. If we deduct $240 from $967, we get the figure of $747. This is the payment you will receive from the SSA as an SSI benefit in October 2025.
Can I check the payment status?
Yes, you can do so. The Social Security Administration has provided the option to check out the upcoming and previous payment status through my Social Security account.
Note: To check the SSI payment status, you need to log in with LOGIN.gov or ID.me login credentials. For your convenience, the step-by-step instructions to check it are made available below.

What to do if the payment is delayed?
The Social Security Administration releases the SSI payments on time without any delay; note that the direct deposits are received within a few hours. If you get the payment via paper check, you may have to wait for a week.
Even after waiting for the required time, if you don’t get the direct deposit or paper copy. Then contact the Social Security Administration official and ask the reason behind the payment delay; they will explain the reason.
If there is any problem on their side, they will fix it in a few hours. And if there is any problem with your eligibility, the SSA officials may ask you to provide required documents. If you do so, the issue will be resolved.
