SSS Sickness Benefit 2025: How Much You Can Receive and Who Qualifies

The Social Security System of the Philippines supports members who can’t work due to injury or sickness through a daily cash allowance under the sickness benefit. People in the Philippines who wish to receive government support during their sickness or injury can find every detail about the 2025 benefit here.

The SSS sickness benefit supports members to cover income loss and have financial stability when they can’t work due to injury or sickness. The benefit offers 90% of a member’s daily salary credit in the daily cash allowance for up to 120 days in a year.

Only an SSS member qualifies for the sickness benefit, depending on their average daily salary credit. Members can calculate their benefit payout based on the ADSC and other rules that will be further mentioned in the article.

What makes you eligible for the SSS sickness benefit 2025?

If you are an SSS member and are wondering if you could receive the sickness benefit, you can check the qualifying conditions below:

  • You are unable to work due to injury or sickness, or you are admitted to the hospital or need to stay home for a minimum of four days.
  • You have paid at least 3 months of contributions to the SSS in a year preceding the semester of injury or sickness. The contribution made before the semester of contingency will be considered only to determine the VM/SE/OFWs entitlement.
  • You must have informed the employer about the sickness or injury.
  • Your sick leave for the current year is all used up; hence, you may need the support, except for the sea-based OFWs.

How much can you receive under the SSS sickness benefit 2025?

As mentioned earlier, the SSS Sickness benefit is equal to 90% of the member’s ADSC; hence, the payout amount may vary among the beneficiaries. If you wish to compute your sickness benefit payout for the current year, you can use the following method:

  • Before the calculator, you should exclude the contingency semester. The benefit refers to the two consecutive quarters before the sickness, where a quarter means three consecutive months ending in March, June, September, or December.
  • Now, count the 12 months backwards from the month before the contingency semester.
  • Now, you must determine and add the six-month highest monthly salary credits annually to get the monthly salary credit.
  • Now, divide the MSC by 180 days to get the ADSC, and multiply the ADSC by 90% to get the daily sickness allowance for the approved number of days.

For instance, support for the six highest MSCs is P20,000 a month. Here’s how your calculator will go on:

  • Total MSC: P120,000
  • ADSC: P120,000/180 = P666.6
  • Daily Sickness Allowance: P666.6 * 90% = P600

When to expect the SSS Sickness benefit?

Qualified members receive the Sickness benefit after the approval of the system. Each day, the allowance is disbursed for the eligible claimants, and the maximum allotment period is 120 days per calendar year.

The SSS will process the sickness benefit to the eligible claimants through the following payment methods:

  • Unifies the Multi-purpose Identification card enrolled in the ATM card.
  • Through PERSONet Participating banks;
  • Through e-wallet
  • Through CPO (Cash payout outlets)/ RTCs (Remittance Transfer Companies)

The members will get the notice from the SSS through SMS or email about the credit of sickness benefits, or you can also check the status of disbursement through My.SSS account. So, remember that when your settlement is final and approved, you can expect payment within 5 days to your banking account.

How to claim the SSS Sickness benefit?

If you get injured or sick, immediately inform your employer about it and submit the sickness benefit application in the following steps:

  • Go to the My.SSS account and find the Submit Sickness Benefit Application in the E-services Tab, and click it.
  • Now, read the instructions and click the Proceed option, fill in the required information, and upload the supporting documents, such as a medical certificate, and certify them.
  • Now, apply, you will get the confirmation message, and then take note of the details and ensure it is submitted.

If you have an unclaimed benefit of a deceased member, a denied claim reconsideration, or an unclaimed payout of a closed, retired, terminated, and inactive member, you cannot file the online application; you will have to visit the nearest SSS branch and complete the application.

The SSS Sickness benefit is a boon for working individuals facing financial issues when they can’t work due to injury or sickness, and helps them to recover without any worry.
